Your Questions, Answered!

  • Not at all! Clever & Calm was created with typical childhood experiences in mind to help adults and better understand developing skills from a child's point of view.

While children who are neurodivergent or have experienced trauma may struggle in this area more than a typical child, everyone can benefit from support with emotional awareness, flexible thinking, and respectful communication. These tools have been tested in multiple settings with children who have a vast array of needs and can be helpful for any child working on navigating big feelings or tricky social situations.

  • Clever & Calm tools are designed to be:

    • Playful and non-judgmental – Kids learn best when they’re having fun, not when they’re in trouble.

    • Adult-inclusive – Every resource includes an “adult information” so you know how to guide, respond, and connect.

    • Rooted in lived experience – Created by a neurodivergent therapist who has been both the misunderstood kid and the helping adult.

  • Yes! Many therapists, school counselors, and educators use Clever & Calm tools during sessions, small groups, or class-wide activities. They’re flexible enough for 1:1 or small group use.

  • Clever & Calm products are thoughtfully designed for children ages 6 to 12, with flexibility built in. Each game, story, or activity comes with a grown up guide to help grown-ups engage meaningfully.

While younger kids (6–8) benefit from playful introductions to emotions and simple social skills, older kids (9–12) can dig deeper into topics like empathy, self-regulation, and perspective-taking. Our tools grow with your child—and support you along the way.
